Prologue:
We hated 3D printing
as much as we loved It.

We set 5 goals before we set off on this journey 22 months ago:
  • No more Bed-Slingers
  • No more bloodshed during support removal
  • Sleep soundly during over-night prints
  • Bring color back into the community
  • Stiff PA-CF parts for my Nerf blaster

Chapter 1:
Colors & Beyond

Color, the ultimate expression of emotions, is brought to you by Bambu Lab's Automatic Material System (AMS). You can now enjoy printing freely in multiple colors and materials, a 3D Printing Maestro.

Removing supports has never been easier.
Bambu Lab X1 can use snap-away support material or dissolvable filament to minimize the pain of removing supports.
Advanced processes enable advanced materials.
Breaking free from low temperature and easy print PLA and PETG, the X1 unlocks more demanding material by utilizing advanced parts and sophisticated thermal control.

Chapter 2:
AI-Powered Evolution

Micro lidar
IMU
2Tops NPU
quad core ARM
A Lidar that measures
depth in micrometers.
Bambu Micro Lidar brings micrometer level precision into 3D printing. The system probes the nozzle height, calibrates the flow, and scans the first layer, so the possibilities are endless.
Dual automated bed leveling for doubly guaranteed prints.
Bambu Lab X1 utilizes two sets of independent sensors and an algorithm to measure the height of the nozzle relative to the bed. The lidar and analog force sensors crosscheck for an extra layer of redundancy in bed leveling.
AI inspected first layer.
Tired of waiting out that first layer? Bambu Lab X1 has got your back. The lidar sensor can check your first layer so that you can get back to doing…anything else.
Higher than the first layer height.
Lower than the first layer height.
Spaghetti detection.
Our AI keeps an eye out for Spaghetti monsters, so you can sleep easy in the knowledge that your printer is safe from this scourge.
A spaghetti failure is detected with confidence of 86%.

Speed
means
a lot.
  • Use one printer to replace several and have the same productivity.
  • Less waiting time means fast iteration.
  • Use 0.1 mm layer height by default without worrying about the print time.
  • Less time means less carbon emission to keep the bed hot.

By the way, we can now cut print time in half while keeping layer height at 0.1 mm.

Chapter 5:
A Printer for Everyone

Out of the box
The X1 is assembled, tuned, calibrated, and tested before being shipped to you, so you can enjoy printing right out of the box.
Print from anywhere with any device
You can send prints by Bambu Studio ,and you can control your printer anytime anywhere with Bambu Handy ,also we support SD card and local network to print the projects
It's time to embrace 3MF.
In the STL era, you had to manage model files, printing parameters, assembly instructions, license information, and model pictures in different places with different software. With natively supported 3MF being its default, the X1 saves you all this trouble, and you can now manage your whole project on one cloud.

Epilogue:
The Beginning of a New Era

Do all those smart features completely eliminate tinkering and tuning?
No.
Is this printer as reliable as a photo copier?
No.
Is this the printer you guys dream of?
Not there yet.
But we are proud of X1!
We are still far from our final goal, but the X1 makes the first step, a very daring leap. We hope the X1 will be a milestone leading to a new era in 3D printing.

Acknowledgement

We express our thanks to the 3D printing community. We have learned a lot about 3D printing from YouTube channels, Reddit discussions, and open source projects. We would like to thank Teaching Tech; his calibration page inspired us to implement the Lidar to do the all important calibrations automatically. We would also like to thank MirageC. If it had not been for his HevORT's stunning performance, we would not have set our target acceleration to 20 m/s^2 two years ago. Finally, we would like to thank the Voron team. We have done many feasibility analyses and evaluation experiments on a Voron 1.8 during the early days of this project.

Creative Commons licensed models are the cornerstones of desktop 3D printing. Countless times, we used these models to test our prototypes, to benchmark their performance, and now to promote features. We list all the attributions of all the models used in this web page below:
